1966 Jeepster Commando
Project Overview
Tim, the owner of the Jeepster Commando, brought this vehicle to us about two years ago. The story behind the Jeepster began ten years ago when Tim was contemplating buying a John Deere Gator. He found that for roughly the same price as buying the Gator, he could buy an old Jeepster Commando. Being a big fan of Jeeps, he opted for the Commando. However, this Jeep had many years of use and was still bone stock. He took the Jeep to a shop and had a few modifications made along with some mechanical work to make the Jeep road worthy.
Once the work was done, Tim soon joined a Jeepster club and went out on a few trips with them. After seeing different modifications other members had done to their Jeeps, he decided it was time to modify his. Tim affectionately claims, "That was the beginning of the end." It was at this point that the Jeepster came to our shop and the biggest project we have ever undertaken began.
With the project near full completion, Tim has modified almost everything possible. The rule of thumb with this Jeep is "point to any spot on the Jeep, and you're either pointing at something modified, or something within ten inches has been modified." It would be impossible to list all the mods here, so take a look at the galleries and you'll get a quick idea of why we refer to this as the ultimate Jeep.
AWESOME! If your ever headed to tahuya send me an email, i'd love to see the ride in person..
