1963 Corvette Engine, Transmission, and Exhaust

In this post, we will show you step-by-step on how we installed our 1963 Corvette Engine, Transmission, and Exhaust.

Here we have installed the engine and transmission in the chassis.  We then over-sprayed the bell housing and installed the exhaust pipes.

With the help of the shop crane, we were able to quickly and gently install and place the engine and transmission onto the chassis.

Here is the orange over-spray on the bell housing that the judges look for on the 1963 Corvette.  This can be purchased and found at any automotive store like NAPA or O’Reily’s. Be sure to mask off certain areas that are meant to stay orange free.

Here we have the exhaust pipes installed in the chassis.

Here we have the mufflers installed directly to the chassis.

Here is the special muffler hangers.  They have a copper strip that you can see in the photo.  This acts as a ground strap to tie the chassis to the exhaust.

This is the one year only (1963) center exhaust hanger installed.  In 1964, they switched over to a different hanger designs.
