1967 Mustang Fastback Rust Repair
In this post, we will show and demonstrate the process taken to complete the 1967 Mustang Fastback Rust Repair.
We have finished the rust repair on the floor pans of the Mustang. After careful examination and processing of all rusted holes in the cab of the 1967 Mustang, the team decided that the best solution would be to cut and replace key sections of the the floor panels with sheets of steel from in the shop.
Here you can see the team has located and mapped out the best possible cutting route to take to remove the rust and still save majority of the original metal. The team went with a basic rectangle cut to save time and money, and to give the best support possible.
Here you can see another square drawing that would soon be cut and removed for a replacement piece.
Here you can see some original holes are beginning to rust. This area will be cut and replaced and new hole would be drilled in place.
Here is the square cut out as mentioned above.
Here is the rectangular sheet of metal being installed and welded to the body.
Next step was to smooth the edges with a grinder.
After finishing the patches, we spread some metal reinforced filler to smooth out all the patches and also seal them up.
