In this post, we will show and demonstrate the process taken to complete the 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe Body Removal Part II.
Today we removed the body from the Chassis. We had to make some modifications to the lifting frame to provide more support to the body. We added an additional lift point in the center of the lifting frame, once the fabrication was done the body lifted great!
The starting of the lift after modifying the lifting frame. You can do it by yourself, but we recommend that you have a partner or two.
The body starting to come off the frame.
Using the bridge crane to lift the frame.
The body fully off the chassis.
This is something neat for you to see, this is mentioned in the judging manual. When the factory was setting the body on the chassis, they would use masking tape to hold the body shims down to the frame. Here you can see the masking tape still intact after almost 50 years.
